Muzical Mystery Tour

Formed around 1977 the band existed in two incarnations, pre Bow Wow Wow and Post Bow Wow Wow. I saw the first incarnation in a very sparsely attended concert sometime in late 1979, weeks later they had changed personnel and were on Top of the pops! Adam Ant's first band were 'hijacked' by Malcom MacLaren and they joined and were fronted by Anabelle Lou Win in Bow Wow Wow, Maclaren's project at the time. From the early stuff I was a fan of the following, everything after the first album by the second group was pants! The On and Off vehicle for Iggy Pop and his nihilistic pre-punk band the Stooges. I got into them with their second album 'Raw Power' and I think this was their second iteration in the early/mid 70s after they were founded and broke up in the late 60s. At this time they were working with David Bowie who delilvered a polish that they previously lacked. Stand out tracks are: From 1969 'I wanna be your Dog' 'The Passenger' believe this may feature David Bowie ' Lust for Life ' - this is the Trainspotting Remix

 The Slits were a strange group, a lot of potential but never really got anywhere. I guess they'd say they didn't sell out but then they would wouldn't they. Key band members were Ari Up, Palmolive and Viv Albertine. Their first Album was 'Cut' and this was pretty good and worth a listen I remember two tracks that they did 'Typical Girls' and a remake of ' I heard it through the Grapevine'

 After Mick Jones was booted out of The Clash he teamed up with Don Letts and formed Big Audio Dynamite. I think the band had 4 albums but never got the recognition that they should have - Jones was hospitalised for several months after they began to make progress - if I remember correctly. Their big Hits were  E = MC 2  and Medicine Show both of which charted and were innovative in thei ruse of sampling and inclusion of various musical genres. E = MC 2 Medicine Show
